Inspiration
Reopening the Parsley-Lane Blog for the third year. Let’s see, what’s on the menu for 2025 (Editorial Winter-Edition 25).
Inspiration is a fascinating phenomenon. Unexpectedly and suddenly, it may occur in a setting that we usually perceive as mundane and somewhat predictable. It can come from a series of notes in a song, a fruitful thought, a journey. Or even a bite of good food. Taking us back to good, uplifting memories or opening up fresh perspectives we had not noticed before.
This year on the Parsley-Lane Blog, I want to give you some of that inspiration. To try something new, rediscover some of the familiar, and maybe even take a brisker walk ahead with the impressions gained along the way.
So now I am starting to work more with some of the recipes I have invented over the past two years. There are quite a few of them now – about 80, if you count the combination recipe posts – and some of them are very versatile (you may have noticed that preparing the [‘Sea Rose Tart’ from the ingredients special on Little Red Radishes], or the [Grain Roast for last year’s ‘Festive Menu’]). As part of this, I am starting a new category called ‘Dough it Right the Second Time‘. Here I work with the alternative doughs I have developed (alternative flours, low gluten, alternative sugars and fats, noegkx).
Not surprisingly, we will also be turning ideas from the past two years into solid traditions. Like the monthly ingredient specials (except April and December). There will be more Table Talks – I have already sent out some of the invitations to these virtual feasts. You will also get to visit more ‘Places with a View’ with me and share insights on ‘Local Foods’. And you will have the usual ‘Sunday Brunch‘ in early spring around Easter, as well as the obligatory ‘Festive Menu‘ at the end of the year, just before Christmas.
Furthermore there will be new formats. For example, we will start with a special end-of-the-month post called ‘Sidewalk Scenes‘. In it, you will find short inputs on new developments of the current month as well as ‘sneak peeks’ on the next month or even the next quarter (next edition). And of course you will find the new adventures of Salty and Cara there, the juicy lovers who seek to solve crimes and mysteries in a world inhabited by fruits and vegetables (and a few insects, of course). Sort of like the classic ‘funnies’ at the back of a newspaper, only this is somewhat like a regrowable fable with more solid soil underneath. By the way, the next story that is coming up is called ‘Plant Light District’.
Well, that’s it for now. Time to get back in the kitchen and whip something up!
Oh yes, one last note: Throughout January, we will continue to work on improvements to the site. This includes performance, design, and security. Not all of this will be noticeable, although there may be small interruptions ‘between courses’. But since we have the Sidewalk Scenes at the end of the month, you will certainly be kept posted.
