Golden Glow

Sun and spirits are rising. Must be ‘Summertime’ (Editorial Summer-Edition 2024)

The sun rises early these days, so there is plenty of time for activities. Like going to an open-air concert – or making one. Or having friends over for a garden buffet or dinner with dessert on the balcony. Maybe hop on a train and go for a ride through the countryside… . I hope you have lots of options to make the most of all this light.

I, for example, will be taking you to another beautiful ‘Place with a View’. And invite you to be my guest at some more interesting Table Talks.

Surprisingly, a lot of the food on the menu in this edition is preceded by a capital ‘B’ (Berlin food, blackberries, blueberries, bread…). And I am seizing the opportunity to try some new perspectives here, so get your cooking gear ready to stir and mix along.

Not to mention, of course, that you are about to take part in another adventure of Salty & Cara. The delicious heroes of a fable set in a world inhabited only by fruits and vegetables (plus a few insects, of course). Once again, love and crime provide plenty of suspense and action. Just now there are new sources of information available with an overview and short summaries of the stories and episodes [‘Salty and Cara – Info Page’]. And if you want to take a closer look, you can read more about the main characters and the background ([‘Salty and Cara – Who is Who’], [‘Salty and Cara – How About’]).

So there will definitely be some sunny streaks on the Parsley-Lane of mindful eating and good food. But just as the sun rises early these days to fill the world with warmth, it also sets late. And in the long summer evenings, the heat cools and fades to a golden glow that touches all that grows with a gentle night’s kiss.

Aahh, summer days, summer nights, … summertime.

Side Notes:

  • This time of year always makes me think of the Gershwin brothers’ famous lullaby from ‘Porgy & Bess’. Because – no matter what the circumstances – summer is always a good time to ‘spread your wings and take to the sky’.
