News & Events

  1. Today and tomorrow, the lovely fair “Bärlauch trifft Regionalprodukte” (“Bear’s Garlic Meets Regional Products”) will take place on the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea, with all kinds of delicious foods like honey, pasta, fish, bread, and even Whiskey, connected to the region of the Baltic Sea and Bear’s Garlic. Also, other regional products like arts and crafts will be there, plus information on the environmental protection zone the island of Rügen is part of. The fair is part of the “Putbusser Bärlauchtage” (“Putbus Bear’s Garlic Days”, from March 27 to April 5, 2026, annual event). See website of the Town of Putbus (putbus.de) and “Veranstaltungen” for further information (in German). I wrote about the event in my category “Local Foods” in 2024, and also put a special emphasis on Bear’s Garlic – a very healthy and savory kind of wild, garlicky leek – in the post “Who’s Seen the Bear?”.
  2. Ortrud Grieb’s new book is out! “Companion Planting – Create a Flourishing Kitchen Garden by Matchmaking Your Plants”, published in February 2026 by Bloomsbury Publishing, and lavishly illustrated as usual. You will love it, I am sure. Ortrud was a guest at the Parsley-Lane Blog Table Talk (“Best Beeties, Best Buddies”).
  3. A unique museum has just opened in Siena, Italy: the University of Siena Museum on Agrifood (WOW). The WOW is affiliated with the Food and Agriculture Museum and Network (MuNe) of FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations) Using multimedia tools and interdisciplinary presentations, it aims to help people understand the complex topic of value chains in the agricultural and food sectors, as well as the importance of sustainable decisions. So it’s all about mindful eating and good food. Of course, I’ll definitely stop by on my next trip to Italy!
  4. We are taking a short break:
    • As spring is hopping up on us with velvety rabbit’s feet, the first quarter is coming to an end. Which means, the Parsley-Lane Blog is taking its first edition break for the year. At the beginning of next quarter, we are making some technical and design improvements to the site. So, there might be a short break in April or early May.
    • Also, there is a holiday coming up, and – as usual – there will be no posts on Easter weekend. I need some time to prepare and share this year’s “Sunday Brunch” with my friends and family. You want to do the same? Well, here you go: [Sunday Brunch 2026: The Table]
    • The next post will be on Friday, April 17th.
  5. What’s more…
    • Some slight changes have been made to the Parsley-Lane sidewalk. Can you figure out what they are? 😉
