Anew
A change in perspective is upon us. It happens every year. Still amazing.
As you walk around these days, the landscape seems to have been somehow set in motion. Transforming shapes into scenery: Trees grow clouds of blossoms. Bare ground changes into blankets of blooming patches. Ragged edges become mellow with lush curves of leaves. The scent of the air shifts from fresh to sweet. And the humming all around tells the story of the fruit that will grow in summer.
May makes everything new.
I love this spectacle and it has amazed me all my life. And I am proud to see the first gooseberry blossoms turning into tiny berries. The strawberries are opening their little heads and inviting the pollinators in. I just saw a small wasp, shaped and colored like a strange aircraft from outer space, land on one of the blossoms. The herbs produce fresh ingredients for sauces and soups. This makes me very happy because I love to go outside and get ingredients from the balcony.
May I ask you to dance with me through this month of wonder?

Side Notes:
- The rainbow spectrum in the lower right corner of the photo above appeared as I was photographing the first small gooseberries ripening on our balcony. The beam of light was just coming in and was broken into a multitude of colors. Just as May brings out the colors in nature.
- I have been asked again, so I am happy to clarify once more: All pictures on this blog are real artwork and photos taken by me (unless I explicitly credit another artist/photographer). For the artwork – if I am not drawing it on paper – I use a simple graphics/drawing program from the open source office suite of Ubuntu (hello to all the wonderful people out there who make Ubuntu possible! Thank you!).
